Our mission is to promote conscientious consumption through the creation of unique pieces of wearable artwork that inspires others to be themselves.
In 2026, partners in love and crime Atticus and Angel decided to set out on the journey of creating a small business together. Their goal was to create a business that made sustainable choices and promoted slow fashion.
Familiar Threads was founded on the idea that wearable art can and should be sustainably made while maintaining a high degree of artistic excellence. Materials for the business are thrifted, donated, or bought second-hand.
The business name, Familiar Threads, is inspired by the idea that you might find some items “familiar” in that they are repurposed materials, as well as Atticus and Angel’s love for their cats who they consider their spiritual familiars.
Meet The Artists
Atticus Jay Berry
Atticus Jay Berry is a disabled non-binary multidisciplinary artist, needleworker, and printmaker currently residing in the state of New Jersey, USA. They have been creating art for the entirety of their 29 years on this Earth, most recently concentrating on printmaking and needlepoint. Atticus has a formal background in Photography, Psychology, and Museum Studies.
Their work features inspiration from nature, mythology, history, horror, and paper ephemera. In their personal life, they enjoy hiking, reading, board games, travelling, and any time spent with their tuxedo cat, Bennie and the Jets.
Angel Chasco is a queer, non-binary artist and writer whose current focus is painting denim, such as jean jackets. They have been drawing, painting, and writing for as long as they can remember and find art to be a reliable way to express themselves. They greatly enjoy finding inspiration in a variety of sources, such as museum trips, connecting with nature, and spending time with their partner, Atticus. Their work tends to feature bold, graphic elements and colors sure to catch your eye and create a statement piece for your outfit!
When not painting or otherwise working, Angel tends to spend time playing video games and board games, writing, and reading. Their favorite genres to read are horror and romance, and the occasional combination of the two when it comes along, and they are often inspired by the macabre.
